The Positive Change Academy - Brandywine (PCA-BRY) provides a comprehensive program of individualized educational, behavioral health, and social services to youth in grades K-12 who have been recommended for an alternative school placement. We serve students from exclusively from the Brandywine School District in Delaware.
Positive Change moves beyond the services provided by traditional schools through a collaborative approach involving the student, parents/families, school professionals, community partnerships, and outside support services.
TLi and the Positive Change Academy are based on the core principles of Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Care, Cultural Relevancy and Agency & Assets (Strengths-Based). This is woven into how we build our organizational and school community, hold ourselves and students accountable and resolve issues.
Small class sizes of 15 students or less to better serve the needs of each student
1:3 Staff to Student ratio to ensure that each student receives individualized attention
African drumming and dancing, art, music, PE to discipline the body and mind
A successful transition is our goal for every Positive Change student. As such, we use a comprehensive view to determine a student's readiness for transition forward to their home school. This includes evaluating students based on our Four Keys to A Successful Transition.

Born and raised in Northeast Detroit, Jason obtained his Bachelor’s degree in secondary education and Master’s in History at Eastern Michigan University. Jason’s research focused on colonial America, and his graduate thesis entitled “Fighting for liberty in an unequal society: African American military service in the American Revolution and the path towards citizenship” traced the early successes and tribulations of African Americans as they fought to earn full citizenship in the new republic. Jason went into education over ten years ago and dedicated himself to working with Detroit’s underserved urban and bilingual population. During his time in Detroit, he was fortunate enough to assist in the opening and operating of two charter schools dedicated to 100% college acceptance and expeditionary-based learning. Upon moving to Delaware, Jason received his second Master’s in Educational Leadership and continues his mission of meeting the needs of underserviced youth in the Wilmington area by providing students with a first-rate alternative education as the leader of PCA Brandywine.
