Description

Teachers are responsible for creating a supportive learning environment. They also develop and implement lesson plans and assess student progress.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Make learning come alive through dynamic lessons that infuse technology and evidence-based teaching strategies.
• Implement assessments to pinpoint wins, challenges, and growth, and discuss these with students one on one.
• Implement IEPs, provide appropriate accommodations, and collect appropriate data.
• Use connection and challenge to create a safe school community.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholder groups: students; families; colleagues, the community.
• Collaborate and learn alongside school tribe.

DAILY DUTIES
• Develop and deliver daily lesson plans.
• Capture data using multiple sources.
• Facilitate circles.
• Communicate with parents.
• Participate in school community activities.
• Help monitor regular student activities (e.g., lunch; dismissal).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• N/A

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree is required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• 2-3 years related experience and/or training, licensure preferred.
• Master’s degree preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• A valid, active Delaware teaching certificate is required.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Language Skills
Ability to read, write, and analyze complex documents. Ability to compose emails that are professional, clear, and concise.
• Mathematical Skills
Ability to collect student performance data and make inferences based on trends.
• Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Employee is required to perform de-escalation and physical non-violent crisis interventions as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Teachers work primarily indoors and in direct contact with students, the public and school district staff.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TRAVEL
• This position requires little travel. This is an on-site position.
